My name is Michael Morella. I grew up in Cajun country where beautiful cypress trees are plentiful. Through the years I developed an appreciation for original, well-built furniture and the different kinds of wood used in their construction. Although I mostly deal with either reclaimed cypress or natural cypress I collect myself, I enjoy collecting all different kinds of wood especially woods that are not easily accessible.
I’m very good at replication. I’ve had people send me pictures of pieces they’d like, and I’m able to recreate using the photo and their wood of choice. Many people come to me to build abstract things with unique wood, such as drift wood and logs.
